Hey there folks,

I trust this blog finds you well and that all of your massively unrealistic resolutions are already sliding in to a post new year’s haze. I had a pretty great night actually, starting at Yarra Park on a warm afternoon and ending in the early hours of the next morning in St Kilda.

Anyway, that was last year and this is 2012 and seeing as though this is the final year of mankind’s existence, (we know this because the ancient Mayan’s ran out of paper for their calendar at December 21st 2012), I am determined to go out with a bang!

It all starts in Tamworth at the Tamworth Hotel on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st of this month with two headline shows to coincide with the country music festival. I know I’ve said this before but if there are any city folk out there who like me three years ago had never been then you don’t know what you’re missing. It would make an awesome road trip. It’s my new favourite festival – there, I’ve said it! I will be joined on stage this year by Ash and Wally from Even on guitar and bass duties and Dave from Augie March behind the kit. It’s an all star band of epic proportions. In fact, I think I could be the weak link. No matter, I bought a special belt buckle at the Victoria markets the other day, (my mum was visiting from Perth and we were being tourists), especially for the occasion. So come one come and all and check out this link!

Another rather exciting bit of news is that the duet I recorded with Kirsty Akers, (the John Prine classic, “In Spite Of Ourselves") has been nominated for a Country Music Award. Kirsty’s been nominated herself for a bunch of others as well so of course I wish her luck with all of them. I think I will be going along to the awards night so watch out Twitterverse. Anyway, if you haven’t seen the clip for “In Spite Of Ourselves” it’s awesome. Go watch it here

Once all of this is done I will be bunkering down in my little garage studio and finishing the demo’s I’ve been busy working on in the background of everything else that’s been going on for the last two years. If all goes well I’m hoping to be in the studio by mid-year recording the album for real. It’s taking shape beautifully so far but I’m not going to say any more than that for fear of turning this informative blog in to some kind of troop rallying, self promotional spiel....which I suppose it already is in some small part but that certainly wasn’t my only intention.

CHEERS!
