Wrapping up the year 14/12/2012

Well hello there all you fine folks!

It recently came to my attention that a major western festival was fast approaching, where people take holiday’s, buy each other presents, get drunk and sunburnt and sometimes worship a god of some description and it is customary for people such as myself to write a little end of year blog telling everybody what a wonderful year it’s been and that next year will be filled with even greater wonderousness.

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is to thank each and everyone of you for buying the single or EP in the last couple of months and coming to see me play at one of my November shows.  It’s been a while between drinks for old mate Bob Evans, to the extent that it feels quite like starting all over again, which is a terrifying thought at my age, (28).  Thank goodness then that there still seems to be a small flock of good people who are still interested in my music.  It’s something I will never take for granted, particularly because I’m well aware of my mediocre talents and am so grateful to be in a position where I will be putting out my fourth Bob Evans album next year, 18 long years after that very first Jebediah gig that marked my beginnings in show business!  So I hope you have all enjoyed the gigs and the songs that you have paid for this year, enough to want to pay for more next year!

Now then, that’s enough reflection.  On to more current matters.  I am hosting a super radical photo competition where alll you have to do is take a photo of something, or someone, that represents the theme, “Don’t Wanna Grow Up Anymore”, from your own weird and wonderful perspective.  What’s that?  You need a suggestion?  Well, I suppose if I was going to enter the competition I might take a photo of a pile of freshly cut grass, as the smell of it reminds me of school ovals.  However being the judge of the competition I can assure you that a photo of freshly cut grass would not be anywhere near interesting enough to win.  Which brings me to the prize!  It’s an authentic Bob Evans party pack!  It includes 2 genuine blank cassette tapes from my teen years with awesome grunge bands recorded on them.  It also includes a copy of “Dazed & Confused”, my favourite movie about growing up!  It also incudes a game of jenga, my favourite game involving stacking things, which is particularly fun to play at 2am after thrashing my awesome cassette tapes.  Anyway, there’s heaps more goodies in the pack so for all the details go here now! http://bobevans.com.au/photo-competition/

I’m excited to have some cool shows booked for early next year, including my return to the Tamworth Hotel on January 18th & 19th.  I fricken love going to Tamworth and urge anyone within road trip distance to come along for the weekend.  You will have a blast!  I’ll also be playing at the Geelong Beer Festival on Febuary 2nd and Moomba in Melbourne on March 11th.  I will be slipping a few new songs in to all of these sets, alongside the hits and memories of course.  Check out all the ticketing information and what not here now!

Finally, I would like to wish you all a safe and happy festive season, whatever it is you are doing.  I will be in home town Perth myself, with the family, showing my daughter Bull Creek for the first time.  I sure she will be dazzled.

See you in 2013 with more new music and lots of shows!
