Today is the day! My best of album “Full Circle” is officially in stores and online right now!
As I’ve been saying a lot lately in various interviews, I approached the curation of this album as not so much a “best of” or “greatest hits” but more like an introduction to Bob Evans. I wanted this collection to both celebrate and initiate. This meant that whilst the more well known songs like “Don’t You Think It’s Time?” obviously have a place on the album, there are also deeper cuts from several albums included that most people would not have heard of. My hope is that by approaching it this way the album gives a broader and more interesting account of the last five albums and fifteen years of my Bob Evans recorded output. I also hope that this album may act as an introduction to my work for people who have never heard of me or don’t own any of my studio albums. Most of all though, like any album I have put out, I hope that it finds a place in people’s days and hearts and stereos and brings a little happiness along with it.
It is also just 2 WEEKS before my tour kicks off, starting in Brisbane on October 19th and continuing on to Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne. Thank you to everyone who has already bought a ticket. If you haven’t yet you can do so here.
This tour is unlike any I have done before. I will be presenting most of the songs from “Full Circle” in special 3 piece mode, accompanied by Clio Renner on piano and Esther Henderson on violin. We had our first rehearsal last night and from the very first song we played together it sounded SO GOOD! I really think this is going to be pretty special. Also, I will be conducting a song raffle, whereby everyone will take a raffle ticket upon entry and if your number is called you may request any song of mine that you like and I will attempt to play it. This has meant going through my back catalogue and trying to remember a lot of songs stretching way back to the late 90’s. My first album, “Suburban Kid” was released in 2003 but contains songs that I wrote many years earlier. The oldest song from that album is a tune called “Boy” which I reckon I wrote in about ’98 or ’99, so barely out of my teens. Above is a clip I made in my garage rehearsing it up on the off chance someone requests it in the raffle!
